Easton Raptor Lacrosse Helmet Review

 

The new Raptor helmet from EASTON will be available soon. Europe Lacrosse Company as the European dealer for EASTON received a sample a few weeks before its official release and we got the official scoop from ELC CEO Francois Labbe!

First, let’s take a quick look at what Easton have to say about the Raptor:

Well, that’s what the guys over at EASTON have to say but…

The first thing we noticed when we got the helmet in hand is the weight… or the lack of weight of this helmet. It’s incredible how light the helmet is ! We couldn’t believe it. When you wear it, it’s so light that you almost don’t feel it.

As laxers we have worn several different lids in the past but the feeling we had wearing Raptor helmet was incredible. Your head feels like being it’s in a cotton shield ! You can see in the pictures that there is an adjustable wheel which works very well in comfortably accommodating even the more bizarre head shapes and sizes.

The second thing that surprised us is the field of vision you have! It’s almost like wearing a box helmet. EASTON worked on a new facemask that allows for excellent peripheral vision. No more sneaky attackmen popping up from X without you seeing them or getting blindsided by an adjacent slide. No excuses ! Maybe that’s why they call it the Raptor helmet – great peripheral vision, just like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park.

And the last thing on the helmet is the look… We simply love it. At the moment there are only a few colour schemes available and although they are pretty awesome, we are excited to see the custom decals that EASTON are set to bring to market soon.

And what about the price ? European Lacrosse Company will sell it for €215. I wonder if there will be any National Teams wearing Raptor helmets at the European Lacrosse Championships in Amsterdam next year. They would be pretty sick looking at customised national team helmets, that’s for sure.
